THE FATHER AND THE SON
Jesus is the Son of the one and only true God. Being “son” does not mean being lesser or inferior; in fact, all the contrary. The biblical definition of “son” is to be “equal or of the same likeness.” Even the Jews of Jesus’ day understood this:
John 5:18 NKJV
Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God. (Also, John 8:39, 43-44)
So anytime that Jesus stated that He was the Son of God, He was making Himself equal to God.
John 1:1 NKJV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Hebrews 7:1-3 NKJV
For this Melchizedek… having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.
Jesus is the fullness of the Father. When we see Jesus we are in fact seeing the Father.
Hebrews 1:3 NKJV
…who [Jesus] being the brightness of His [the Father’s] glory and the express image of His person…
How well you know God is not determined by your “knowledge of God.” It is determined by your knowledge of Jesus. To know Jesus is to know God. To reject Jesus is to reject God (1 John 2:23).
John 14:8-9 NKJV
Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
THE HOLY SPIRIT
Understanding the Holy Spirit is not complicated. The way that we have a spirit, God and Christ both have a Spirit—the same Spirit. This verse says “the Spirit of Christ” and “the Spirit of God” interchangeably.
Romans 8:9 NKJV
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
